IIM Bangalore Leadership forum LCube 2008

Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore conducted LCube 2008, 3 days of Leadership, Learning and Leisure events on the 10th anniversary of Post Graduate Program in Software Enterprise Management. There are a number of exciting events held over three days between Friday May 30th and Sunday June 1st.I was fortunate to attend few events.
Mr. Harsh Manglik, Chairman and MD, Accenture India inagurated the event and delivered the keynote address on “Leadership from within”
LCube also organized a Corporate Quiz based on the lives of leaders and achievers in the fields of business, sports and world politics. It was conducted in association with Karnataka Quizzing Association and hosted by Prof. Rajeev Gowda. The quiz saw participation from over a 100 enthusiasts from different industry.
Nasscom President Mr. Som Mittal, talked about ” IT companies at the crossroads - Looking for the next winning strategy” . Mr. Mittal emphasized current problems Indian IT industry is facing. According to Nasscom, Industry is in bad shape due to acute shortage of talents. 95% of Indian IT workforces are concentrated in Bangalore, Chennai, Hydrabad, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, and NCR. Other cities are not able to create enough infrastructures to encourage IT firms to set up shops. Vast majority of Indian engineering colleges, like tier-3 and tier -4 do not produce employable graduates.
Panel Discussion, involving an eminent panel of leaders from the industry, held on the topic “DNA for the next generation of IT Leaders”. Subhash Menon of SubexWorld emphasis about the importance of value creation through innovation. Sudip Baneerji, President, enterprise solution, Wipro, emphasize the importance of creating a global mind set and increasing the product portfolio.
