Technology is changing at a blistering pace. Sometimes it put my amazing rate of hair fall to shame. So does the nature of firms’ working. Virtualization is a buzz word for new generation firms. Employee, Product, network resources –almost everything are getting virtualized.
Employee virtualization: if a US firm wants to start a project, but quality talent is hard to get in local market, it is advantageous to hire someone from Israel or from Brazil or from any tiny part of the world. Work will be completed and delivered .Physical presence is hardly seen as an issue.
Product and service virtualization: Suppose you want a cosmetic item with your own specification. Just enter your product ingredients and specifications. Negotiate a fair deadline. Products will be built at an unknown place, will be packed in somewhere else, and finally be delivered to your doorstep.
Infrastructure virtualization: Many firms are working on infrastructure virtualization, e.g VMware, IBM etc. Some day you may need Google Map to figure out where your CPUs and other disks are located. If you do Google for SOA (service oriented architecture), you will be amazed by the kind of R&D is going on.
